Abalones are one of the precious sea creatures that face possible extinction from over-fishing and over-acidification of our seawaters? The good thing is you and I are already doing our part to prevent this from happening.
Ancient Chinese medicine textbooks note that abalones hold amazing health benefits – with its meat chockfull of nutrients and its juice used in treating blood diseases. Just how beneficial are abalones to the human body?
Our abalone comes from the world’s first commercial abalone sea ranching facility in Flinders Bay, Australia. Unlike abalone farms, we build our own artificial abalone reefs (called abitats) on our leases in the pristine waters of Flinders Bay.
We place hatchery reared young abalone on these reefs. That’s how our wild child gets to grow up at in its natural habitat – the ocean. And we have made it a wild yet comfortable and safe environment.
Trust us - she may be considered wild. But she’s completely responsible, sustainable and a dream to taste.
We believe that premium abalone deserves an equally premium home. Our ranch features custom built reefs in the pristine waters of Flinders Bay - in an area where wild abalone is in abundance.
Nature (with a little help from our divers) does the rest to yield a naturally premium product.
No, she’s not wearing green lipstick.
At Ocean Grown Abalone, we specialize in greenlip abalone – a premium product that grows in its natural habitat and acquires its signature green lips with the kind of green sea algae it feeds on.
OGA produces wild, ocean grown, greenlip abalone under our Two Oceans Abalone brand. We have several products available for purchase under our Two Oceans Abalone brand. Products detailed below.
Chefs, consumers, food writers and distributors appreciate the quality of OGA’s abalone. “One of the most amazing things I have ever tasted. It is juicy, tender, tasting of the earth and the ocean. Tasting the abalone in my dish was one of the Gourmet Escape weekend’s cooking highlights.”
